Milan: We are waiting for Arsenal’s Balotelli bid

AC Milan have revealed they are waiting for Arsenal to firm up their interest in striker Mario Balotelli with an official bid.

Vice-president Adriano Galliani told MilanNews.it that the Gunners are yet to submit an offer for the ex-Manchester City man and he does not know if the situation will develop in the coming week.

Arsenal’s dip in form at the end of last term as they dropped out of the Premier League title race was widely-attributed to their lack of quality cover and competition for targetman Olivier Giroud.

They have since splashed out more than £30million to land Chile forward Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona, but it is not yet clear whether he will be deployed as a striker or out wide.

Galliani said: “Balotelli to Arsenal? We have not received any offer and at the moment there is nothing.

“Needless to say, except for incoming mail tomorrow there is nothing.”

It is believed that the San Siro giants are ready to cut their losses on the 23-year-old, who cost around £24m when he arrived from City 18 months ago.

Moments of brilliance have been tempered by a number of unsavoury incidents since the switch back to his homeland, in typically enigmatic fashion.

The latest flashpoint came earlier this month when the forward took a picture of himself brandishing a gun and made it his homepage image on Instagram.

He hastily deleted the photograph – which was accompanied by the chilling message “a kiss to those who hate me” – but not before it had gone viral online.
