Borehamwood v Arsenal: Pre-Season Friendly

Football Express News takes a look at Saturday’s pre-season friendlies which saw Arsenal and Liverpool beat lower opposition, whilst Tottenham Hotspur drew with Seattle Sounders.

Arsene Wenger’s side faced Boreham Wood on Saturday afternoon as they continued preparations for the new Premier League season and they kept a clean sheet, beating the lower league side 2-0.

It took 70 minutes for the Gunners to take the lead but they did eventually through Kristoffer Olsson, who was played in by Tomas Rosicky.

The Premier League side then doubled their lead and sealed victory through youngster Benik Afobe.

Meanwhile, rivals Liverpool and Chelsea also won, beating Preston North End and AFC Wimbledon, respectively.

Brendan Rodgers’ side found themselves 1-0 down with 20 minutes to play but goals from Suso and Krisoffer Peterson sealed victory.

Chelsea had a similar comeback as they were being held 2-2 until the very last minute, when captain John Terry popped up to score the winner.

Over in America, Seattle Sounders hosted a Spurs side, managed for the first time by Mauricio Pochettino.

Lewis Holtby, Roberto Soldado and Iago Falque were amongst the scorers in what ended as a 3-3 draw.
