Lord Sugar mocks Spurs boss Pochettino

Pochettino

Former Tottenham Hotspur chairman Lord Sugar has ridiculed the name of the club’s new head coach, Mauricio Pochettino and questioned how long he will remain in the job.

The Argentine was handed a five-year contract in the summer after leaving Southampton to replace Tim Sherwood, who was given his marching orders following just five months at the helm.

Pochettino became current chairman Daniel Levy’s 10th managerial appointment in 13 years, with the north London outfit gaining the unwanted reputation of lacking patience with whomever is in the dug-out.

The latest boss oversaw a 3-3 pre-season draw with Seattle Sounders yesterday in an entertaining encounter, but entrepreneur and television personality Sugar had a bone to pick.

He said on Twitter: “I hope the new Spurs manager stays long enough for me to learn how to pronounce let alone spell his name.

“Mauricio Pochettino – that’s a bit of name to remember. Can’t shorten to like Harry. Maybe Morry P. Any ideas?”

Sugar, who split opinion among Spurs supporters even when he was at the club, received a number of negative replies.

The 67-year-old ended his long association with Tottenham club in 2007 when he sold his remaining shares for £25million.

He has since gone on to present BBC hit series ‘The Apprentice’.
