Toni Kroos has opened about his move from Bayern Munich to Real Madrid and said that he is delighted to have joined what he calls ‘the biggesst club in the world’.

The German World Cup winner had been linked with a summer move away from Bundesliga champions Bayern since the end of the season but whilst the likes of Manchester United and Barcelona failed to agree terms, Real Madrid jumped the queue and completed a move for the midfielder.

Kroos played an important part in his country’s success in Brazil and will move to La Liga where he hopes to gain similar successes with the Spanish capital side.

Upon being presented to the Real Madrid crowd on Thursday, Kroos spoke of his delight at signing for what he calls ‘the biggest club in the world’.

“From the beginning when it was clear I would leave Munich I wanted to come to Madrid,” he is quoted as saying in Marca.

“There were no other options. Going to Madrid was my number one choice. It’s a step above Bayern.

“Madrid have worked hard to get me and all went well. I’m happy about that.

“When I first started at Bayern there was only one option, to win trophies. Now I’ve come here I’ve seen it’s the same. We have to win trophies.

“I know I’m at a very successful club and I will do everything possible for this to continue. It’s a great challenge for me, to win trophies with this team. The goal is to win all competitions.”
