Juve midfielder edges closer to exit door

Pirlo

Juventus reportedly face an uphill struggle to convince veteran Andrea Pirlo to stay at the club.

Il Quotidiano Sportivo
claims Turkish giants Galatasaray have a good chance of landing the midfielder, who is ready to quit Turin following the appointment of Massimiliano Allegri as manager.

Allegri got the nod following Antonio Conte’s shock resignation from the post.

Pirlo fell out with Allegri in 2011 when both men were at AC Milan, and the feud led to Pirlo switching to Juve, where he has been a big hit despite his advancing years.

The latest report insists his position at Juve is virtually untenable due to the explosive nature of his disagreements with Allegri over the tactics being deployed at Milan.

Allegri was sacked by Milan at the start of this year.

Pirlo will be offered the chance to once again work with head coach Cesare Prandelli in Turkey, having played under him for Italy.

Ironically the other name in the frame to become Conte’s permanent successor was Roberto Mancini, who stood down from the Galatasaray helm earlier on this summer after failing to guide them to the domestic title.

However the former Manchester City chief, who did lift the Turkish Cup, was overlooked and could also miss out on the vacant Italy job to Conte.

Galatasaray will still have to fork out a relatively healthy transfer fee to secure the 35-year-old’s services, because he recently penned a two-year extension to his current deal.
