Juventus close to ending transfer saga

Morata

Juventus are finally on the verge of landing Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, according to reports in Italy.

The Turin giants have chased him for the best part of seven months and did not give up on luring him to Serie A despite being knocked back during the January transfer window.

Tutto Mercato Web claims Morata, who turned down Ligue 1 side Monaco and Bundesliga club Wolfsburg in favour of a switch to Juve, could complete the move today or over the weekend.

A fee has been agreed, personal terms have been in place for most of the summer and the player is gearing up for his medical.

Juve finally got the green light when Real president Florentino Perez decided, after long deliberation, that he would allow the 21-year-old to leave the Bernabeu.

Morata scored nine goals in 28 appearances for Carlo Ancelotti’s side during the 2013-14 campaign, many of which came from the substitutes’ bench.

He regularly found himself battling for a place in the starting line-up with the likes of star-studded internationals Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Jese.

The deal has not been threatened by the surprise resignation of Antonio Conte as Juve head coach. He was replaced by Massimiliano Allegri 24 hours later.
