New Chelsea defender Filipe Luis has decided to give the reasons he swapped La Liga champions Atletico Madrid for Stamford Bridge.

It was confirmed on Wednesday that the Brazilian would be following in the footsteps of Diego Costa and making a move from Madrid to London to join Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea.

The decision saw the defender forced to train with Atletico’s reserve side earlier in the week but he has decided to lift the lid on why he decided to leave the Vicente Calderon.

“I have seen people annoyed with me in recent months, because I did not say anything,” he was quoted as saying in AS.

“But I thought if I spoke I could damage my image and especially the club. I decided to talk when it was all over, I may have been wrong but that was my decision.

“The club will always remain and players will come and go. But, there are players like me who wanted to change leagues.

“I’ve always liked Chelsea. I have left but Guilherme Siqueira will do as well or better.”

Luis will join Diego Costa, who also joined Chelsea this summer, leaving Diego Simeone with a need to bolster his options, which he has already done with the signings of Siqueira and Mario Mandzukic from Bayern Munich.
