Liverpool will let wantaway midfielder Lucas Leiva leave the club if they can find a like-for-like replacement, Football Express News understands.

A source close to Anfield told FEN the Reds are reluctant to see him leave before they have sufficient cover in place, but are fully aware of his desire to depart.

His representatives are said to have agreed terms with counterparts from Napoli, with Lucas keen to be reunited with former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez at the Serie A club.

Benitez led them to Italian Cup glory and Champions League qualification in an impressive 2013-14 campaign and sees the acquisition of the Brazil international as another step forwards.

According to Italian source TuttoSport, Napoli have set a deadline of August 10 to complete the signature or move on.

They are frustrated at the amount of time it is taking to secure his services, having reached an agreement with his agent in Rome.

If the proposed move falls through Napoli are likely to step up their long-term interest in Tottenham Hotspur holding midfielder Sandro.

Consistent performer Lucas has been with Liverpool since the summer of 2007, when old mentor Benitez signed him from Gremio in his homeland. He penned a long-term deal in 2013.
