Monaco striker signs for Newcastle

Emmanuel-Reviere

AS Monaco forward Emmanuel Riviere arrived in Newcastle last night and is currently undergoing his medical ahead of signing to the Magpies in the next 24 hours.

The French striker is a done-deal with personal terms along with a purchase price of £8m having been agreed in advance between the French Ligue 1 club and Newcastle.

Riviere, 24, scored 14 goals for Monaco last season and will serve as the fourth reinforcement to the North-East club’s attack force this summer behind Spanish forward Ayoze Perez and midfielders Jack Colback, Siem de Jong and Remy Cabella, who are in training with the side ahead of their pre-season fixtures.

A fifth newcomer, Dutch defender Daryl Janmaat, is poised to put his signature any moment to a £5m deal with Magpies boss Alan Pardew following the completion of his medical yesterday and he will replace right-back Mathieu Debuchy – who is on his way to Arsenal.

Newcastle will hang fire on closing the deal for Janmaat until the signing of Debuchy for the proposed £12m fee is completed which according to reports, is imminent.
