PSG call Conte’s agent as Blanc faces sack

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly toying with the idea of replacing manager Laurent Blanc with Antonio Conte, who quit Juventus last night.

Sport Mediaset claims the cash-rich Ligue 1 giants have already make contact with Conte’s representatives in an attempt to discover their client’s intentions.

If positive noises come from the Italian’s camp, PSG could dispense with the services of former Manchester United defender Blanc and hand the ex-Juve head coach a lucrative contract.

The 44-year-old is one of the front runners to take charge of Italy, with the national side closing in on Cesare Prandelli’s successor following a torrid World Cup campaign which ended at the group stage.

However, money is no object in the French capital and Nasser Al-Khelafi is said to be confident of landing any target – be they a player or manager – if he throws enough money at them.

Conte, who led the Turin heavyweights to three successive Serie A titles, resigned just one day after the start of pre-season training and has since been replaced by Massimiliano Allegri.

The outgoing head coach told the club’s website: “I have decided to terminate my contract with Juventus.

“I have matured with time and my feelings led me to make this choice. It may be more difficult to keep winning with Juventus.

“An enormous thank you for what you have given to me as a player and as a coach. I have always been close to you. I want to say that the journey taken in recent years has been historic.

“Winning is difficult. It comes with a lot of effort, especially in a club like Juventus where there is the obligation of victory, but I showed I’m a winner.”
