AC Milan approach United for Nani

Nani

AC Milan have made contact with Manchester United regarding a move for wideman Nani, according to Sky Sports Italia.

Although a potential target for Juventus and Inter, the Rossonerri have enquired about the 27-year-old, who has struggled with fitness and form in recent seasons.

The Portugal international hardly featured for the Red Devils last term but his status is yet to be confirmed by his club, with new manager Louis van Gaal now at the helm.

A potential stumbling block for the San Siro giants is the player’s wages, which add up to around £3 million per season.

The latest report claims Milan are not prepared to replicate his current deal, not least because they are not involved in the money-spinning Champions League in 2014-15.

Football Express News understands Milan also tried to lure him to Italy two years ago, only to see their efforts fail.

United signed Nani from Sporting Lisbon in 2007 for £20 million and he has since gone on to play 227 games for the Premier League side, scoring 40 goals in the process.

He featured in Portugal’s disappointing World Cup campaign and scored the opener in the 2-2 draw group stage game against USA.
