Arsenal’s move for ‘banned driver’ Remy in doubt

Football Express News understands that Arsenal officials are now doubting a potential move for Queens Park Rangers striker Loic Remy after he was banned from driving on Tuesday.

The former Newcastle United striker has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal this summer after holding several talks with the North London club during last season, which included an afternoon of meetings during the home game with West Bromwich Albion.

A sticking point has been the transfer fee demanding by the London side, which is said to be around the £12-£15m mark.

Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and a number of French sides have also shown interest but his latest off-field antics have led to Arsenal beginning to doubt their move for the former Marseille man.

The striker appeared in Newcastle court on Tuesday and was fined more than £3,000 and disqualified from driving for 14 months after being caught over the drink limit last season.

Arsenal officials are now concerned that the demands from QPR are too much, given that Remy has a history of off-field problems.

A move is not out of the question but the latest problems could see the Gunners negotiate a lower price with Rangers for the French international.
