Juventus coach Antonio Conte has had his contract terminated by mutual consent and prompted talk of him taking the Italian national team job.

Just one month away from the start of the new Serie A season, Juventus fans were left shocked after coach Antonio Conte announced via the club’s official website that he would be leaving the Italian champions.

The 44-year-old coach guided Juventus to a third successive title last season for the first time since the club enjoyed a five-year title winning spree in the 1930s.

But following the season and talk of a number of his players potentially leaving the club, Conte has decided to leave the club.

Speaking to the club’s website on Tuesday, Conte said: “I have decided to terminate my contract with Juventus.

“I have matured with time and my feelings led me to make this choice. It may be more difficult to keep winning with Juventus.

“An enormous thank you for what you have given to me as a player and as a coach. I have always been close to you. I want to say that the journey taken in recent years has been historic.”

Following his departure, talk has already emerged of Conte taking the position as Italian national coach, following Cesare Prandelli’s exit following the World Cup in Brazil.
