Espanyol have confirmed the signing of former Manchester City striker, Felipe Caicedo, who has put pen to paper on a two year deal.

The Ecuador International has arrived in Barcelona on a free transfer after terminating his contract with Abu Dhabi based Al Jazira, signing on the dotted line for Espanyol.

“The Ecuadorian striker…has signed for two seasons and will immediately link up with the first team,” read a statement on the club’s website.

Caicedo can list Sporting Lisbon, Manchester City and Malaga amongst his former employees before a successful loan spell at La Liga club Levante.

Hitting 13 league goals in 27 appearances for ‘Les Granotes’ resulted in a €7.5 million move to Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow but after averaging only one goal per five league games for Lokomotiv, the 25-year-old left Russia two years into his contract.

Now, after a short spell in the UAE it seems that Caicedo will look to revitalise his career in a league that he has proved most successful in so far.
