Arsenal star Podolski: We are signing Khedira

Khedira

Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski claims his Germany team-mate Sami Khedira will be a Gunners player in the coming weeks.

The north London outfit have reportedly agreed a £23million fee with La Liga giants Real Madrid for the acquisition of the midfielder, with Catalan publication Sport claiming a deal is close.

Wideman Podolski has added fuel to the fire by telling television crews in his homeland that his compatriot is set to join him at club level.

Khedira was in the middle of an interview with a host of foreign reporters in Germany and, when asked who he would be playing for in the 2014-15 campaign, he was interrupted by Podolski who said: “Arsenal.”

The 27-year-old has less than 12 months remaining on his Bernabeu deal, with little sign of an extension in sight.

Arsenal officials will now begin the process of negotiating personal terms with the engine room star and his representatives.

It is thought that he will demand somewhere in the region of £150,000 per week.

If he completes the switch he will link up with international team-mates Podolski, Mesut Ozil, Per Mertesacker and Serge Gnabry in Arsene Wenger’s squad.

Wenger has already landed attacker Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona this summer in a deal exceeding £30m.
