Lavezzi closing in on PSG exit

Lavezzi

AC Milan have reportedly edged closer to the signature of Paris Saint-Germain attacker Ezequiel Lavezzi.

Italian source TuttoSport claims the Rossoneri have held lengthy negotiations with the Argentina international’s representatives over the last few days.

The report reveals that Milan’s new head coach, Filippo Inzaghi, will adopt a 4-3-3 formation at the San Siro next term and has identified Lavezzi as an integral part of the fresh approach.

Inzaghi replaced Clarence Seedorf at the helm earlier on in the summer, with the Dutchman given only four months in the top job before being dismissed.

The only stumbling block in the way of the Lavezzi deal is Milan’s need to sell several of their fringe players in order to fund incoming transfers which require a significant fee.

Milan must hope they are not overtaken in the race to secure his services while they desperately try to offload the likes of Robinho, Alessandro Matri and M’Baye Niang, all of whom have been deemed surplus to requirements.

Lavezzi is viewed in the corridors of power as an alternative to Hellas Verona hitman Juan Iturbe, who is thought to be on the verge of joining champions Juventus.

He has two years remaining on his contract in the French capital.
