Arsenal legend urges Gunners to complete Khedira swoop

Olympique Lyonnais v Real Madrid - Pre-Season Friendly

Arsenal stalwart Ray Parlour has urged his former club to buy Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira.

The Gunners, who have already spent in excess of £30million to lure attacker Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona, have agreed a £23m fee for Khedira, according to Catalan source Sport.

Ex-England international Parlour, who started his career at the north London outfit and spent 12 years there between 1992 and 2004, is back in the UK after a month of punditry work at the World Cup in Brazil.

He hopes to see Khedira added to Arsenal’s ranks in the coming days and said on Twitter: “Just got back from a brilliant World Cup. Knackered! All I need now to liven me up is Khedira signs for @Arsenal #gooners.”

The Sport report claims Arsenal have seen off interest from a number of European heavyweights and are edging closer to bagging contract rebel Khedira, who has less than 12 months remaining on his Bernabeu deal.

The two clubs are believed to have settled on the fee and Arsenal officials will now begin the process of negotiating personal terms with the Germany international and his representatives.

It is thought that the 27-year-old will demand somewhere in the region of £150,000 per week.

If he completes the switch he will link up with international team-mates Mesut Ozil, Per Mertesacker, Lukas Podolski and Serge Gnabry.
