World Cup sensation James Rodriguez is on the brink of a mega-money move to Real Madrid after reportedly agreeing personal terms with the La Liga giants.

The Monaco playmaker, who lit up a memorable tournament in Brazil with some outstanding performances for Colombia, is widely-expected to arrive at the Bernabeu in the coming days according to Spanish newspaper As.

He will earn somewhere in the region of £5.9million per year, and could command a transfer fee of around £63m, with add-ons taking it closer to the £80m mark over a number of years.

However, if Real offer midfielder Casemiro as part of the deal, it is believed it will knock around £10m off Monaco’s final asking price.

The cash-rich Ligue 1 outfit are believed to have been monitoring Casemiro and are tempted to accept him as part of the deal.

He has already been tipped to cope with the pressure of playing for one of the biggest clubs in world football, with Colombia legend Carlos Valderrama singing his praises.

Valderrama told Marca: “”I hope he goes to Spain. There’s not much I can add after the World Cup he has just played. Whoever had any doubts has now seen what he can do. I never had any.

“He has exploded onto the international scene at the World Cup, and he’s only 22. Not bad, eh?

“Not even Real Madrid is too big for James. Look how he played this World Cup…just 22 years old, he has shown he can play for any club in the world.”
