Arsenal are close to signing Nice goalkeeper David Ospina after agreeing a fee, Football Express News understands.

A source close to the Emirates Stadium told FEN the Colombian shot-stopper should join this week for £3.2 million.

He has declined a new contract at Nice in the hope of finding a new challenge elsewhere, and the north London outfit were impressed by his form during the World Cup.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has been searching for a back-up goalkeeper for Wojciech Szczęsny and considered a raid on Norwich City for John Ruddy before turning his attention to Ospina.

He has played 177 games for Nice and has been capped 44 times for his country. He kept clean sheets against Greece and Uruguay on the way to the quarter-finals.

If he puts pen to paper it will come hot on the heels of attacker Alexis Sanchez’s arrival from La Liga giants Barcelona in a deal worth in excess of £30m.

Wenger hopes to make further additions in order to challenge for top honours in the 2014-15 campaign.
