Evra to lift lid on United exit in letter

Evra

Outgoing Manchester United defender Patrice Evra is drafting a letter to Red Devils supporters, Football Express News understands.

The Frenchman, who is on the verge of securing a switch to Serie A champions Juventus, will not arrive in Turin until the final week of July.

He is currently on holiday in the USA and a source close to Old Trafford told FEN the 33-year-old has decided to send a message to United fans in the form of a personal statement.

While the elder statesman is likely to thank the home faithful for their backing during his eight-year stint at the club, the outspoken left-back could also lift the lid on the circumstances surrounding his hasty departure.

His exit comes just months after he put pen to paper on a one-year contract extension, but since then Dutchman Louis van Gaal has been appointed the club’s new manager and England defender Luke Shaw has arrived from Southampton.

Shaw occupies the same position as Evra and the £27million acquisition is viewed as a ready-made replacement.

After a brief disagreement with Juve about personal terms, everything has been agreed and he will be presented to the Italian media within a fortnight.

He became an integral part of the United set-up following his arrival from Monaco in 2006.
