Football Express News understands that Manchester City have agreed a £32m deal for Porto defender Eliaquim Mangala.

It is understood that Mangala was in Manchester over the weekend after being photographed with an official from the Premier League champions and following final negotiations and terms being agreed, it is now understood that a deal has been completed.

The French defender is expected to be announced as a City player in the next 24 hours and could join the club on their tour of America on July 21.

Mangala’s arrival will come as a good sign for City boss Manuel Pellegrini, who is desperate to find a regular partner for Belgian defender and captain Vincent Kompany.

The 23-year-old was in superb form for Portuguese side Porto last season and was included in France’s World Cup squad, failing to make an appearance though in Brazil.

He began his career at Belgian side Standard Liege after joining them as a youngster in 2008, before moving to Porto in 2011.
