Injury-jinxed Liverpool star predicts ‘amazing season’

Manchester United v Liverpool - Capital One Cup Third Round

Liverpool defender Jose Enrique has predicted big things for the Reds in the 2014-15 campaign following his long-awaited return to training.

The Spaniard missed the vast majority of last season due to a serious knee injury, making only nine appearances, and there were genuine concerns that he would not be ready for the start of the next term.

However, ex-Newcastle United left-back Enrique has joined the rest of his team-mates for the beginning of pre-season training and thinks Brendan Rodgers’ side will once again be challenging for top honours.

Last time around they had to settle for second place in the Premier League table which, despite being a huge improvement, still left the Merseyside giants distraught, having led at the summit for so long.

Enrique took to social media site Twitter to share his relief at coming through a training session unscathed.

He told his followers: “Another training session done today. Getting fit for the amazing season that is coming.”

Liverpool are tipped to be in the thick of the title race again next season despite the fact that they are selling talisman Luis Suarez to La Liga heavyweights Barcelona.

Rodgers is likely to have an enviable transfer budget at his disposal and will look to replace Suarez with several high-quality acquisitions.
