Football Express News understands that Arsenal have sent officials to Germany to meet with representatives of Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Lars Bender.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has had a busy summer so far with the additions of Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona and Mathieu Debuchy from Newcastle United.

And, it will not stop their as the French boss looks to tie up a deal for Loic Remy next week, whilst his pursuit of German international Lars Bender is also taking shape.

Bender was in superb form for Leverkusen last season and gained himself a place in his country’s World Cup squad, with whom he will be with at the World Cup final in Brazil tonight.

Consistency and impressive performances in the Bundesliga have led Arsenal boss Wenger to become extremely interested as he looks to freshen up his midfield options and add another German to his ranks, joining Mesut Ozil, Per Mertesacker and Lukas Podolski.

Arsenal officials will now fly to Germany to discuss terms with Bender’s agent and the Bundesliga club about a move, which the midfielder is keen to see happen this summer after stating his wish to play in the Premier League.
