Football Express News understands that Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has submitted a bid for Southampton pair Dejan Lovren and Jay Rodriguez.
The Merseyside club have been extremely busy already this summer in the transfer marker and have already captured Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert form their Premier League rivals Southampton.
And, with their sale of Luis Suarez to Barcelona for an estimated £63.8m – Rodgers is ready to splash the cash on two more signings, with Lovren and Rodriguez both attracting his interest.
Defender Lovren has issued his desire to leave the Saints this summer and was left upset last week after learning of Liverpool’s interest through the press and not through his current club.
Meanwhile, Rodriguez, who is currently recovering from an injury was one of the stand out players in the Premier League last season, missing out on a World Cup place with England due to injury.
Whilst, new Southampton boss Ronald Koeman is keen to keep the duo, it seems Liverpool’s desire and double bid will be too good for the South England side to reject.
