Football Express News understands that West Ham United have contacted Bundesliga side Stuttgart about the services of Antonio Rudiger.

The young German defender made his senior debut for Stuttgart in 2011 and has since cemented his place in the side’s defence, playing in 35 games last season in a consistently good manner.

Portuguese giants Porto have been credited with interest in recent weeks but it is also now understood that Premier League side West Ham United are also extremely keen on bringing the defender to the Premier League.

The Hammers have been keen admirers of the Berlin born central defender and have sent an initial enquiry to Stuttgart, which they hope will return positive.

Colombian forward Enner Valencia is also close to signing for the English side and is due to arrive in London in the coming days to complete his move.

Rudiger has represented Germany at every level up from Under-18, including one cap for the senior side, which came against Poland on the 13th May this year.
