Liverpool target Jackson Martinez has broken his silence about the prospect of leaving Portugese giants Porto during the summer transfer window.

The Colombia forward, who is also being chased by several Serie A clubs according to Italian source Tutto Mercato Web, was coy on the subject of a possible exit during an interview with Radio FM.

A source close to Anfield told Football Express News the Reds hope to add another striker to the squad before the 2014-15 campaign gets under way, not least because they are selling hitman Luis Suarez to Barcelona.

The insider revealed Martinez is one of several targets being considered.

Uruguay international Suarez’s imminent departure to the Nou Camp frees up a significant sum of money for Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers’ summer transfer budget.

Martinez said: “I do not know what will happen, I have a contract for two more years with Porto and I know there is interest from some clubs.

“It is normal if a player is playing well, but I have always respected my contracts. Only time will tell what will happen.”

Martinez scored 23 goals in 41 appearances in all competitions for Porto last term.

The coveted 27-year-old also helped himself to a brace in the World Cup group stage clash with Japan in June.
