Arsenal star: Debuchy will be a big hit for us

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has tipped Newcastle United defender Mathieu Debuchy to thrive at the Emirates Stadium if his proposed move goes through.

The right-back is thought to be on the brink of joining the Gunners as a replacement for Bacary Sagna, who left the club at the end of the season on a free transfer and joined Manchester City.

Wales captain Ramsey feels the presence of several French players at the north London outfit can only help their compatriot Debuchy, who can also look forward to working for a fellow countryman in Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.

Ramsey told Sky Sports News: “I think he would fit in here. He plays for the French national team at the highest level and has good qualities, so I am sure he will settle in if he does come here.

“He knows a few of the French boys here too.”

Meanwhile Ramsey, who scored the winner in his side’s 3-2 victory over Hull City in the FA Cup final at Wembley in May, is excited about playing alongside new arrival Alexis Sanchez.

The Chile star joined from Barcelona at the end of last week in a £30m deal.

“He is a great player, a fantastic talent who has proven at Barcelona and in the World Cup with Chile just how much ability he has,” added Ramsey.

“He will bring his own style to this team, so we look forward to that and working with him.

“We all know about his qualities, he is quick, he can get in behind and dribble with the ball and he will certainly slot into the team with ease.”
