Mourinho gets mega-money offer to quit Chelsea for Brazil

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is in line to manage Brazil at the next World Cup, according to fresh media reports.

Spanish source Marca claims the Portugese turned down the role for the current tournament, which is being hosted by the south Americans, and instead former Blues boss Luiz Felipe Scolari took the helm

Scolari’s future is under intense scrutiny following the humiliating and shambolic 7-1 semi-final defeat at the hands of Germany on Tuesday.

He will oversee tonight’s third-place play-off against Holland, who were beaten on penalties by Argentina in their last-four clash on Wednesday, but could lose his job in the coming days.

While a move for Mourinho will be difficult to pull off this summer, Marca reports that there is a strong chance he will be in the dug-out for the tournament in Russia in four years’ time.

A mega-money offer to lure the 51-year-old away from Stamford Bridge has already been put together in the corridors of power in Brazil.

Mourinho made an emotional return to west London 12 months ago after deciding to leave La Liga giants Real Madrid.

He received a hero’s welcome from the supporters with whom his bond never waned following his first stint in charge between 2004 and 2007, but Chelsea ended last season without a trophy to their name.
