Former Arsenal midfielder struggling to find new club

Barcelona and representatives of Alex Song are struggling to find a new club for the Cameroon midfielder.

Song joined Barcelona in 2012 from Arsenal but his time with the Catalan club has seen him make limited appearances, battling with the likes of Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta and Sergio Busquets for a starting place.

Just 19 appearances for Barca in the league last season have now seen the Cameroon international deemed surplus to requirements with new boss Luis Enrique keen to offload the midfielder in a summer sale which has already seen the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Alexis Sanchez leave the Camp Nou.

Italian duo AC Milan and Inter Milan have both been credited with interest in the past, whilst former club Arsenal had been linked, but it is understood that the club has received no offers this summer.

Barca plan to add a new central defender to their side for next season, pushing Javier Mascherano further up the field to provide competition with Busquets, leaving Song’s chances of playing football next season – very limited.
