Neymar supporting Argentina in World Cup final

Barcelona and Brazil forward Neymar has discussed who he wants to win the World Cup final, picking Argentina over Germany due to his friendship with Leo Messi and Javier Mascherano.

The young forward joined Barcelona last summer and works alongside Messi and Mascherano at the club, so it is only natural that he wants the pair to find glory in Sunday’s final, despite the bitter rivalry between the two South American clubs.

“I wish good luck to Germany but I want my two friends Lionel Messi and Javier Mascherano to win it,” he told reporters in Brazil.

“Messi deserves to win this World Cup for all he has done for football.”

The former Santos goalscorer then spoke about his recent injury, one that he says could have left him paralysed and unable to walk, becoming emotional in front of the onlooking reporters.

Brazil will face Netherlands on Saturday in the third place play-off, whilst the World Cup final between Argentina and Germany will take place on Sunday evening, marking a third final between the two sides in the history of the competition.
