Arsenal have completed the signing of Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona.
The 25-year-old forward undertook his medical at 5pm today and the Catalan giants have agreed a fee of £30M with Arsenal to complete the Chilean’s move to north London.
Sanchez, 25, joins Arsenal from Barcelona, with whom he made 88 appearances and scored a respectable 39 goals in his three seasons with the Catalan side.
The Chilean winger finished the domestic season, second only to Lionel Messi in terms of goalscoring and assists, prompting further success with his country at the World Cup this summer in Brazil.
Juventus, AC Milan and Liverpool had all been credited with interest in the former Udinese man but he and his agent Fernando Felicevich met with Arsenal officials on Monday in London and immediately agreed terms.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger was quoted as saying in the official Arsenal website: “As many people have seen during the World Cup this summer, Alexis is a fantastic footballer and we are delighted that he is joining us at Arsenal Football Club.
“Alexis will add power, creativity and much quality to our squad and we are all looking forward to him joining up with us in a few weeks. He has consistently produced top-quality performances at the highest level for a number of seasons now and we are all excited to see him integrate into the Arsenal squad.
