City talisman on top of the world

Aguero

Manchester City talisman Sergio Aguero has admitted he and his Argentina team-mates are living the dream after securing safe passage to the World Cup final.

The 26-year-old returned from a two-week absence with a groin injury to feature as a substitute in last night’s tense 0-0 draw with Holland, which sent the contest to a penalty shoot-out.

Aguero was one of four players to successfully dispatch a spot-kick, while goalkeeper Sergio Romero denied Aston Villa defender Ron Vlaar and Galatasaray playmaker Wesley Sneijder to seal the triumph.

They will now face Germany in Sunday’s final, with the European side having benefited from an extra day’s rest following their stunning 7-1 victory over host nation Brazil on Tuesday.

Aguero took to social media site Twitter to share his joy with his followers and said: “I am proud to be in the Argentina team.

“Keep supporting because there will be more! Let us come together for the same dream!”

Napoli hitman Gonzalo Higuain, who started for Argentina before making way for Aguero late on, echoed his colleague’s sentiments.

He said: “It is the biggest joy to play in the final of a World Cup. I am so happy to belong to this group.

“Thank you very much to all the people.”
