Lazio: Klose is not for sale

Lazio president Claudio Lotito has warned potential poachers to stay well clear of their star striker, German ace Miroslav Klose, informing Italian radio that the player is not for sale under any circumstances.

Germany’s formidable forward stunned the world last night during his side’s 7-1 destruction of host nation Brazil, breaking a record with his 23rd minute screamer past Brazilian goalkeeper Julio Cesar.

The successful strike marked Klose’s 16th World Cup goal over four tournaments spanning two decades – 2002, 2006, 2010 and 2014, and this remarkable achievement cements the 36-year-old as the highest World Cup goal-scorer in history – ahead of Brazil legend Ronaldo.

As is always the case when players stand out in high-profile tournaments, the transfer speculation starts as they capture the interest of other top football clubs in Europe and beyond.

Klose’s club Lazio, who play in the Italian Serie A, wanted to ensure everybody knows the score and their president Lotito told Italian radio that they have no desire to cash in on the German, saying he is not on the market and therefore not for sale.

Lotito told Rai Due:  “Now we have a champion who has scored the most goals in World Cups.

“The figure he had to reach, he has already done so, regardless of whether or not he scores in the final.

“In order to receive offers for a player, he must be placed on the market, and Klose is not for sale.”

Lazio also hailed their highly-prized striker to their Twitter followers:  “Sixteen goals in World Cups, the best of all time. Miro Klose enter history. Miro Klose is the history.”
