City want contract rebel Nasri to commit by Friday

Manchester City expect playmaker Samir Nasri to sign a fresh contract extension before this weekend despite, Football Express News can reveal.

The ex-Arsenal midfielder’s future at the club has been called into question following several months of negotiations which failed to reach a successful conclusion.

However, a source close to the Etihad Stadium told FEN that the 26-year-old will almost certainly put pen to paper by Friday at the latest, despite having no shortage of suitors across Europe.

His current deal expires at the end of the 2014-15 campaign.

City had hoped to announce his new deal earlier on in the summer, not least because the player did not have the distraction of the World Cup to contend with, having been left out of the France squad.

But Blues officials have refused to panic and expressed a willingness to wait until the pint-sized schemer had recharged his batteries on holiday.

The club insider revealed Nasri could be on the brink of taking a small pay-cut, but will be compensated by bigger bonuses than he has been accustomed to.

Captain Vincent Kompany and midfield man Yaya Toure are the highest earners at the Premier League champions, followed closely by Argentina hitman Sergio Aguero and Spain star David Silva.
