Football Express News understands that Manchester United have been informed by representatives of James Rodriguez that he is unwilling to leave AS Monaco this summer.

The Colombian play maker has been in superb form this summer, setting the World Cup alight with his performances for his country and despite their exit to Brazil, still leads the scoring charts with six impressive goals.

The former Porto man joined Monaco last summer in a huge deal but the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester United have both since been credited with interest.

Rodriguez, who is due to return to France in the coming days to begin pre-season training, had already informed reporters in Colombia of his intentions to turn down any approach from Madrid, saying: “No, I will stay with Monaco, they are a great club,” Rodriguez is quoted as saying in Colombian media and on Mundo Deportivo.

And, it is now understood that a similar statement has been made to Man United, who approached Rodriguez and Monaco over the weekend.

Further sources have informed us that United have now turned their attention quickly to Antoine Griezmann of Real Sociedad, who turned down a two-year extension on Tuesday.

Rodriguez managed 10 goals and 12 assists last season for Monaco and helped them to a second place finish, just one season after returning to the French top flight.
