Argentina flag brings luck to Brazil

Scolari

Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari bizarrely believes this Argentina flag brings him luck, so he posed for photographs with it along with captain Thiago Silva in advance of tonight’s Brazil v Germany World Cup semi final.

Scolari is clearly a man with a superstitious side. He had previously been approached on 28 June by an Argentine journalist working on behalf of an Argentine newspaper and asked (for a joke) if he would pose with the flag prior to Brazil’s round 16 match against Chile.

Showing his sense of humour, the Brazilian agreed to pose with the flag so the newspaper’s photographer could take pictures.

It so happened that Brazil went on to win the game against Chile on penalties, having ended the match on a 1-1 scoreline and failing to net a winner in extra time.

As a result, Scolari is now of the belief that this particular Argentina flag is the very thing to have brought him and his players good fortune, ten days ago against Chile.

The Brazil chief was more than willing to pose with the same flag today, along with suspended squad captain Thiago Silva, and Silva said to the journalist: “This flag brought us luck.”

Scolari believes his lucky flag will also serve him and his players well tonight against their semi final opponents Germany.

Whichever side wins will face either Argentina or Netherlands in the very last World Cup showdown of the tournament – the final on Sunday.
