Liverpool’s failure to meet Alexis ends talk

Alexis Sánchez Chile

Football Express News understands that Liverpool’s chances of signing Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona have all but ended after the decided against meeting him in London.

The Chilean winger arrived in London on Monday to hold talks with both Arsenal and Liverpool over a possible summer move after his future at Barcelona became doubtful following the Catalan side’s pursuit of Luis Suarez.

Sanchez, who had a superb World Cup campaign with his country is keen to move to England this summer and test his ability in the Premier League and his agent – Fernando Felicevich, has been busy arranging the meetings with the two aforementioned clubs.

Arsenal have been strongly linked with a £32m bid planned, with some reports in Spanish press claiming that the deal had been accepted by Barcelona.

Whilst, Liverpool were keen to add Alexis in the deal that will see Suarez leave Anfield for a place at Camp Nou.

However, FEN understand that the Merseyside club decided against meeting with Alexis and his officials in London, just one day after agreeing a fee with Benfica for Lazar Markovic.

Brendan Rodgers’ side are now all-but certainly out of the race to sign the former Udinese man, but have moved their interest to Markovic and Divock Origi, after watching him impress for the Belgian national side at the World Cup in Brazil.
