AC Milan decided last night that they will sell striker Mario Balotelli to Arsenal if the north London outfit meet their asking price, Football Express News understands.

A source close to the Emirates Stadium told FEN they have received fresh encouragement from their counterparts in Italy to firm up their interest with an official bid for the 23-year-old.

New head coach Filippo Inzaghi and vice-president Adriano Galliani got together to thrash out the future of the former Manchester City man following weeks of speculation.

And FEN has been told that the upshot was, he can depart the San Siro during the summer transfer window if an acceptable offer is placed on the table.

The Gunners insider revealed Arsenal are yet to decide whether to intensify their pursuit of the Italy forward as they are assessing a number of options, but they are reluctant to spend more than £20million.

The way the proposed deal would be structured could prove to be the key to reaching an agreement.

Balotelli’s involvement in the World Cup has come to an end, with Italy crashing out prematurely at the group stage.

He headed the winner in a 2-1 victory over England, but performed poorly in successive 1-0 defeats to Costa Rica and Uruguay which culminated in elimination.

The striker, who left City at the start of 2013, still has three years remaining on his contract with Milan.
