Van Gaal fights PSG for France star

Pogba

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly ready to launch a £59million bid for Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Ligue 1 champions will test the Turin giants’ resolve to hang on to the Manchester United target one more time despite his agent, Mino Raiola, claiming his client will stay in Italy for at least another season.

A source close to Old Trafford told Football Express News that Red Devils head coach Louis van Gaal is keen on both Pogba and his engine room colleague Arturo Vidal, but the Premier League side think they could be priced out of a move for the Frenchman, who left United in 2012.

Juve are said to be confident of retaining his services for the 2014-15 campaign but willing to enter into a dialogue if one of his suitors comes up with a mega-money offer before the summer transfer window slams shut.

Cash-rich PSG have an enormous budget and are determined to lure the 21-year-old to his homeland after seeing him impress during France’s run to the World Cup quarter-finals, in which they were beaten 1-0 by rivals Germany.

He has two years remaining on his contract at Juve and is likely to be offered a lucrative extension if he or the club rejects the French club’s overtures.
