United set to bid £31m for Juventus midfielder

Vidal

Manchester United are ready to splash out £31million on Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal, according to fresh reports in the Italian media.

La Gazzetta dello Sport
claims the Red Devils have made the Chile international a priority acquisition and an official bid could be imminent.

The 27-year-old’s return from World Cup duty has given United hope of speeding up the process, following his side’s penalty shoot-out defeat at the hands of host nation Brazil in the second round of the competition.

He has since embarked on a short holiday with his family but suitors are still able to contact his representatives and negotiate with the Serie A champions.

While Juve are reluctant to see one of their star performers leave Turin, they could find themselves in a position where they need to balance the books, as they are close to buying Real Madrid forward Alvaro Morata and Hellas Verona attacker Juan Iturbe.

They are also chasing United left-back Patrice Evra, which puts the Premier League club in a strong bargaining position as they have something Juve want.

Vidal, who helped Antonio Conte’s side successfully defend their domestic title during the 2013-14 campaign, has three years remaining on his current contract.

He has formed a fine midfield partnership with ex-United youngster Paul Pogba at the heart of the Juve engine room.
