Liverpool flop’s agent speaks out

Aquilani

Former Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani could leave Serie A outfit Fiorentina this summer, according to fresh reports in the Italian media.

The ex-Reds schemer, who flopped at Anfield thanks in no small part to a string of injuries during his ill-fated three-year stint at the club, faces an uncertain future with the Viola.

He has been with the Italians since 2012, having spent loan spells at Juventus and AC Milan prior to his permanent departure from Merseyside.

The Italy international’s agent, Franco Zavala, told Radio Blu he has become increasingly frustrated at the lack of communication with Fiorentina and hinted that a move is not out of the question.

He said: “You have to ask the magicians the boy’s future – the situation is at a standstill.

“Recently there has been no contact, the last one was a month ago. What do you expect of the guy?

“I have not heard anything since the World Cup and the situation is at a standstill because it is a month in which we do not hear anything.”

Aquilani, who has been capped 35 times by his country and was part of Italy’s squad at the World Cup in Brazil, has 12 months remaining on his contract with Fiorentina.
