Inter in pole position to land Saints striker

Osvaldo

Inter Milan are reportedly leading the race to snap up Southampton outcast Dani Osvaldo.

The towering targetman is widely-expected to depart St Mary’s during the summer transfer window after a fall-out with the club led to his loan switch to Serie A champions Juventus in the 2013-14 campaign.

Sport Mediaset claims Juve head coach Antonio Conte is unlikely to pursue the forward for a second time, paving the way for old rivals Inter to strengthen their attacking options with the acquisition of the 28-year-old.

He was used sparingly by Conte and notched only three goals in his five-month stint in Turin, with only one of his strikes coming in the league, but FC Inter News believes the Nerazzurri will rescue him from his nightmare on the south coast of England.

Osvaldo was ushered out of the exit door after becoming embroiled in a training ground bust-up with team-mate Jose Fonte at the start of the year, and his future are the club appears to be bleak.

Inter boss Walter Mazzarri has set his sights on adding a forward to his squad before the start of next season in order to improve on last term’s fifth-place finish in the table.

He has so far been frustrated in his attempts to land Manchester City’s Stevan Jovetic on loan.
