Tottenham have agreed a £75m deal with Manchester City to sign Brazilian winger Savinho, with a further £10m available in potential add-ons.
The 22-year-old will undergo a medical before putting pen to paper on a long-term contract at Spurs.
Savinho’s move to north London has been more than 12 months in the making, after Spurs failed with a bid to sign him last summer.
The winger opted to remain at the Etihad Stadium, but his game time under Pep Guardiola was severely limited, with just seven Premier League starts to his name last term.
Spurs head coach Roberto de Zerbi has already spent a combined £185m on midfielders Mateus Fernandes from West Ham and Sandro Tonali from Newcastle this summer.
The addition of Savinho will push Tottenham’s overall summer spending past £300m, though the club have recouped around £140m through the sales of Cristian Romero, Djed Spence, and Luka Vuskovic.
Spurs are unlikely to stop there, with sources telling BBC Sport that talks for Savinho’s City team-mate Omar Marmoush are progressing positively.
The Egypt forward cost City £59m when he joined from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2025, but fell down the pecking order at the club last season.
Tottenham also retain an interest in Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo, though it remains unclear whether they can finance a deal for the Netherlands attacker alongside moves for both Marmoush and Savinho.
Despite Savinho’s modest Premier League scoring record of just two goals across two seasons at the Etihad, his wider qualities are central to why Spurs are investing so heavily.
His reputation was built during a stunning 2023-24 loan spell at Girona, where he registered nine goals and eight assists across 37 league matches as the club secured Champions League qualification for the first time.
During that La Liga campaign, Savinho led the division for successful take-ons with 104, progressive carries with 181, goal-creating actions with 25, and expected assists with 9.9.
He also ranked second for passes into the penalty area and progressive carrying distance, underlining his enormous influence in build-up play across the pitch.
In total for Manchester City, Savinho has made 84 appearances, scoring seven goals and providing 13 assists, having originally joined from sister club Troyes for £30.8m in 2024.
De Zerbi’s teams typically look to draw opponents forward before exploiting the space that opens up, creating one-against-one situations for wide players to attack.
Savinho’s acceleration, directness, and willingness to take on defenders make him ideally suited to those moments, whether operating from the left or cutting inside from the right onto his stronger left foot.
Tottenham kick off their Premier League campaign at Brentford on Saturday, while Manchester City host Bournemouth on Sunday as both clubs head into the new season under significant scrutiny.
