Rangers are closing in on a loan deal for Crystal Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, with the Ibrox club eager to solve a problem position in their squad.

The 22-year-old right-winger has emerged as a key transfer target for Rangers as the window progresses, with the Scottish giants determined to add quality to their attacking options.

Rangers have already had one offer rejected by Crystal Palace, though their pursuit of the England under-21 international remains very much alive and ongoing.

The initial loan proposal put forward by the Ibrox club does not include an obligation to buy, a factor that has complicated negotiations with the Premier League side.

Crystal Palace hold Rak-Sakyi in high regard, with the winger still having three years remaining on his long-term contract at Selhurst Park.

That contract security gives Palace significant leverage in any discussions, making it harder for Rangers to secure the deal on their preferred terms.

Southampton have also registered an interest in Rak-Sakyi, meaning Rangers face competition for the signature of the highly-rated winger.

The presence of other clubs sniffing around the deal could force Rangers to wait until later in the transfer window before a move can be completed.

Rak-Sakyi spent last season on loan at Sheffield United in the Championship, gaining valuable first-team experience at a high level of English football.

The young winger has represented England at under-21 level, underlining the faith the national setup has placed in him as one of the country’s emerging talents.

Rangers’ loan offer remains on the table despite the earlier rejection, signalling the club’s genuine commitment to getting a deal over the line before the window closes.

The Ibrox side will be hoping to fend off the interest from Southampton and secure Rak-Sakyi’s services as they continue to strengthen their options heading into the rest of the season.
