After leaving Liverpool at the end of last season, Mohamed Salah is now in talks to join Turkish club Trabzonspor as a free agent.
The Black Sea Storm confirmed in an official statement that negotiations with the 34-year-old Egypt forward have formally begun.
Trabzonspor announced that Salah is set to arrive in Istanbul on Wednesday, with a trip to Trabzon planned for the same evening.
“The player is planned to reach Trabzon in the evening of the same day,” the club said in their official communication.
“The time and other details regarding the welcome program in Trabzon will be shared with the public through our club’s official communication channels during the day.”
Trabzonspor are one of only six clubs to have ever won the Turkish Super Lig, having claimed seven league titles in their history.
Six of those championship successes came in a dominant period between 1976 and 1984, cementing the club’s status as a major force in Turkish football.
Their most recent title arrived in 2022, ending a remarkable 38-year wait to be crowned champions of Turkey once again.
Salah joined Liverpool from Roma back in June 2017 and went on to enjoy an extraordinary nine-year spell at Anfield.
During his time at the club, he helped the Reds win two Premier League titles, the Champions League, the Club World Cup, the UEFA Super Cup, the FA Cup and two EFL Cups, as well as the Community Shield.
He won the Premier League Golden Boot on four occasions and was named the Professional Footballers’ Association player of the year three times, in 2018, 2022 and 2025.
Salah finished his Liverpool career having scored 257 goals and provided 120 assists across 442 appearances, establishing himself as one of the club’s greatest ever players.
He also featured for Egypt at the 2026 World Cup, where his nation reached the last 16 before losing 3-2 to eventual finalists Argentina.
A move to Trabzon would represent a new chapter for one of the Premier League era’s most decorated forwards following his Anfield departure.
