Chelsea have completed the signing of highly-rated Portuguese winger Geovany Quenda from Sporting CP on a long-term contract running until 2034.
The deal, which was originally agreed nearly 16 months ago, could be worth as much as €52 million, making it one of the more significant recent arrivals at Stamford Bridge.
Part of the agreement with Sporting CP also included the signing of Dário Essugo, who joined Chelsea immediately last summer, bringing the combined total fee to nearly €75 million.
Quenda spent his final season at Sporting before completing the move to England, making 86 appearances across all competitions during his time with the Lisbon club.
During that spell, the winger scored nine goals and contributed 17 assists, demonstrating his quality as both a creative and direct attacking threat.
He became the youngest player ever to score for Sporting during his debut season, playing 54 games as the club secured a domestic Double that campaign.
Quenda was also named Primeira Liga Young Player of the Season in 2025, underlining just how rapidly he had established himself as one of Europe’s most exciting young talents.
His achievements extend to the European stage as well, with Quenda holding the record as the youngest Portuguese player ever to score in the Champions League.
He was also named in the Team of the Tournament at the 2025 Under-21 European Championships, adding further weight to his growing reputation on the continent.
Quenda is now set to integrate into the Chelsea squad as pre-season preparations gather pace ahead of their upcoming fixtures in Asia this summer.
The versatile youngster can operate across multiple positions, having been deployed in both advanced wide attacking roles and as a wing-back throughout his time at Sporting.
