Reports in Spanish press claim that Atletico Madrid are closing in on the signing of Benfica’s Nico Gaitan.
Argentine attacking midfielder Gaitan has been linked with a summer move since the season ended, with whom he enjoyed a successful season with Benfica, helping the Portuguese side to an impressive league title, plus a Europa League final spot.
Manchester United have been strongly linked to the 26-year-old in recent weeks but it is now being reported by Catalan daily Mundo Deportivo that Atletico Madrid are set to complete a summer deal.
The report goes on to add that Gaitan will arrive at Vicente Calderon ahead of their pre-season training in what looks to be a deal worth around £25m.
Atletico are also set to sign Benfica keeper Jan Oblak, with the keeper set to arrive in a player-plus-cash deal which will see Joshua Guilavogui move to the Portuguese club.
