Claudio Bravo has completed his medical and signed for Barcelona from Real Sociedad.

The Chilean keeper was in superb form for his country in the World Cup, prompting Barcelona to tie up a deal for the impressive stopper from fellow La Liga rivals Real Sociedad.

Bravo arrived in the Catalan capital on Monday morning and underwent a medical, before signing on the dotted line to complete a five year deal which will see him and Marc-Andre ter Stegen battle it out for the number one spot at the club.

Bravo spoke about his arrival at the club, discussing the pressure of replacing Victor Valdes and Jose Pinto who were number one and number two respectively for the previous four seasons, plus his emotions of leaving Sociedad.

“After what I experienced at the World Cup in Brazil, to then come to Barça is an incredible feeling” he told Barca TV. “I’m very motivated about replacing Víctor Valdés and Pinto, they set high standards for this club.”

“I will take magnificent memories away from that club. They brought me to Europe and opened the doors for me to come to Barça. That’s the reward for all my work … I am truly looking forward to contributing to and helping the team. I am very ambitious and have high expectations about the good things I can achieve here”.

Finally, when asked about competition for the number one spot with Ter Stegen and youngster Jordi Masip, Bravo replied saying that competition was a good thing.

“Such competitiveness can only be a good thing as long as it’s for the good of the team.”
