Everton have agreed a deal worth up to £24m, including add-ons, to bring Chelsea winger Tyrique George to Goodison Park on a permanent basis.
The 20-year-old spent the second half of last season on Merseyside after joining on loan, with an option to buy included in the original agreement for £25m.
Everton have successfully renegotiated the upfront fee down to around £18m, with the remainder structured as add-ons linked to European qualification and appearances.
Chelsea have also secured a 15% sell-on clause as part of the renegotiated agreement, giving them a future financial interest in the young winger’s development.
George made 11 appearances for Everton during his initial loan spell, starting just once, but clearly left a strong impression on those around him at the club.
Manager David Moyes spoke positively about the youngster at the end of his four-month stint, describing him as an “excellent boy with an excellent work-rate.”
The England Under-21 international came through Chelsea’s acclaimed academy and has been available for transfer for the past 12 months following a turbulent period at Stamford Bridge.
George held talks with RB Leipzig last summer, while a £22m move to Fulham collapsed dramatically on transfer deadline day back in September 2025.
With the agreement now subject to personal terms and a medical, George is set to become Everton’s second summer signing of the transfer window.
He follows Hayden Hackney, who arrived from Middlesbrough in a £16m deal, not including add-ons, as Everton look to strengthen their squad under Moyes.
German attacking midfielder Merlin Rohl has also made his loan move from SC Freiburg permanent following an encouraging spell at the club last season.
However, the summer has brought departures too, with experienced duo Idrissa Gana Gueye and Seamus Coleman both leaving after their contracts expired.
Everton appear to be building purposefully around a younger core as the club looks to push up the Premier League table in the coming campaign.
