Football Express News understands that Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel wants to leave the club this summer.

The Slovak defender has two years remaining on his current deal at Anfield but interest from the likes of Barcelona and Galatasaray in recent weeks have seen his future heavily discussed.

Liverpool officials are keen to keep the 29-year-old, who played an important part in their runners-up place in the Premier League last season.

However, it is understood that Skrtel is tempted to join Turkish club Galatasaray, who are willing to offer a fee of £100,000 per week for his services.

Skrtel joined Liverpool in 2008 from Zenit Saint Petersburg and has since gone on to make 245 appearances in England.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are making serious headway in their pursuit of Benfica’s Lazar Markovic, who looks set to join in a deal worth £25m, leaving Brendan Rodgers’ interest in Alexis Sanchez now in doubt.
